“It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”

Guatemala Peace is a team of 12 U.C. San Diego students, part of the student organization Alternative Breaks @ UCSD, that will be embarking on a life-changing experience on their Spring Break of 2014. Our team will be going on an international service trip March 22-29 working to improve education in one of the most disadvantaged and isolated areas of the country. We will be working to build classrooms in order to give children opportunities for education as a means to help them escape the cycle of poverty. In addition to working alongside the local community, we will be interacting closely with the children who live in this impoverished village. We not only hope to support the community through sustainable local change but to also leave a lasting impression on the community we work with.
This is only the beginning of our journey. We might be all different people but we all have the same passion. As a team, we will carry our mission and visions in our trip. As one, we will educate and inspire others through direct service through those in need. As a family, we will create a world of unity in a community, to create long-lasting impact, and to empower individuals to serve others.
